MAYWEATHERS LEGACY ON THE LINE

Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, has issued an ultimatum in less than 24 hours to drop Mayweather's demand on Olympic style testing or the highly anticipated boxing clash between Pacquiao and Floyd Jr. will not happen.

Pacquiao has proven time and againt that he is a fighter who fights quality opponents like Barerra, Morales, Hatton and Cotto. The same cannot be said of Mayweather, who is known for ducking elite fighters like Mosley and Margarito.

Mayweather needs the Pacquiao fight badly in order to silence his critics. Beating an elite fighter in his prime would solidify Floyd's claim that he is the best in his generation.

In an article by Steve Kim for MaxBoxing, Bob Arum said "We’re willing to do all kinds of urine analysis. We’re willing to do blood testing before the last press conference and after the fight."

Pacquiao and his team are open to taking a blood test but not right before the fight. So the headlines about Pacquiao refusing to take a blood test are misleading.

The Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Jr. bout is one of the most anticipated fights in recent years. It can be argued that a fight of this magnitude has not happened since the days of the four horsemen (Hagler, Duran, Hearns, and Leonard) when bouts between elite fighters were more common.

As a result, it is fitting that this bout should include excellent undercards. This is the perfect fight for boxing to go back to its roots. The days when undercards often included title fights and featured other great boxers.

Boxing has experienced a renaissance in the last two years and the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Jr. bout has a chance to put boxing back where it used to be. In the front pages of the sport sections and main topics of discussion in sports shows.

Although it is not etched in stone yet, the probability of the most anticipated fight since Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad happening is very good, according to recent reports.
There have been a number of great fights throughout the years, but few come close to the drama and storylines that this fight provides.

Roy Jones Great Skills And Greatest Triumph Are Greatest Downfall

Those who had the privilege to watch Roy Jones Jr. during his prime will tell you what a fighting specimen he was. In between Sugar Ray Leonard and Floyd Mayweather Jr. there was Roy Jones, holding the mantle as the most complete fighter during his prime.

He had the intimidation factor, speed, quickness, and tremendous power with both hands. His only weakness may have been his defense and fundamentals, and only because we never knew how good they were.

He was never easy to hit, but too often relied on his quickness, and his opponents’ hesitancy to pull the trigger in fear of being countered, as his main defensive strategies.

Why Floyd Mayweather Should Keep A Sugar Free Diet

Manny Pacquiao The Truth Behind The Criticisms

Despite not having Mayweather’s pedigree and proper resources at his disposal at the beginning of his career Pacquiao has become arguably the best boxer of our generation. But, a number of boxing fans and so called boxing “experts” continue to deny him all the credit that he deserves.

His total body of work is second to none when compared to other great boxers of our generation. He’s only one of a handful of fighters in history that has surpassed his potential and expectations. This rare accomplishment should be appreciated by boxing fans and analysts.

Still his wins and accomplishments are too often downgraded and attributed to his opponents’ shortcomings instead of his ability to find a way to win. Many of his critics ignored his win versus Oscar De La Hoya since the latter was supposedly past his prime and weight drained. Yet, many of those critics knew those circumstances beforehand and still picked Oscar because they did not think that Manny had the boxing ability to pull out a victory.

The Most Avoded Fighter Aint Paul Williams Its Nonito Donaire

Paul Williams has been coined “The Most Avoided Fighter” and for good reason. He’s had to fight in multiple divisions since none of the top fighters in the welterweight division were willing to fight him.

Still, he’s been able to step into the ring with respectable and recognizable fighters such as Carlos Quintana, Antonio Margarito, and Vernon Philips.

Nonito’s list of recent victims on the other hand includes the following names: Luis Maldonado, Raul Martinez and Rafael Concepcion. They are solid and respectable fighters but none of them were considered elite fighters.

Nonito Donaire seemed to be destined for stardom after destroying Darchinyan considering the rising numbers boxing fans within the Filipino community.
